Setting up Your Document: Command N
- Margins: The space between the edge of the paper and where the content starts. Set it to .125in
- Bleed: This is the area of artwork that is extended beyond the actual dimensions of the document. It is used to avoid strips
of white paper showing on the edges of your print should the batch be misaligned when cut to size. Set it at .125in - Gutter: The inside margins or the empty space in between two facing pages.
- Slug: Non-printing information that identifies aspects of the document like author, date, etc.
- Facing Pages vs Single Pages
- Setting up Columns initially vs. Changing them later (Layout->Margins and Columns)
- Designating number of pages vs adding or taking away later.
Master Pages: Set the basic layout so that all the pages in the document based on the master will look the same.
In our document, we want every page to have the top logo and a green bar at the bottom. We’ll also want a text box and a picture box
- Lets take a look at the pages palette which has ‘none’ and A-Master
- To overide master items, command Shift Click on item
- or: Select the page’s pull down menu and ‘Overide All Master Items
- File->Place or Command D to place imagery or text. (Or lets do a cool way)
- Fit frame to content, fit content to frame.
